The UPFYA has been closely working with the National Youth Council and ministry of Gender for some time now in advocating for youth friendly policies as well as monitoring of the implementation of existing government programs for youth. The forum has also been central in furthering a number of issues that have over time arisen from the National council and other engagements relating to youth welfare, legislation and policy mainstreaming which have in the recent past led to tangible success a case in point is the passing of the National Youth Service/internship program by Parliament, the debate on the state of the youth which generated a spirited debate and the NYC act amendments among others. As has been the practice the UPFYA with support from International Alert attended and participated the International youth day celebrations in Koboko on 12th /08/2016 preceded by the National Youth Council meeting on 11th /08/2016 at Arua Republic School. The celebrations were held under theme; “The road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Production and Consumption.”
