After a series of consultations with legal minds, Attorney General (AG) and the speaker of Parliament to which we were party. The ruling does not in any way suggest that the concerned MPs should leave the house. The ruling affects the electoral processes for the same categories however and the court pronounced itself clearly on this matter by granting an injunction to the processes. The speaker assured members that they are still part of his house and nobody was going to send them out.
Moving forward, The AG will appeal and also apply for a stay of execution, the minister for youth affairs will bring the said statute under which the youth elections were held to be regularised by Parliament. We will therefore embark on mobilising MPs to support this cause. Youth representation in Parliament is still as important as the youth issues in this country. The AG together with the youth MPs jointly addressed the press at Parliament yesterday. We are working on getting this judgment accessible to those who may be interested. Young people out there therefore should stay calm as this process will be regularised and all will be well. Go on with your primaries in preparation for the main do. As a forum we shall work with MPs and other actors to resolve this matter.
