Background

PFYA’s legislative agenda provides a framework for undertaking the mandate and the priorities of young people which the forum will advance through the legislature. It is linked to the overall strategic framework of the Parliament of Uganda, whose overall goal is “to legislate for the people, sustainable development, and democracy in Uganda.” The 2021-2025 agenda is premised on the desire to accelerate the socio-economic transformation of youth in Uganda.

EMPLOYMENT AND LIVEHOOD

High unemployment and underemployment of the young people is one of the most pressing development challenges for young people.

SOCIAL SERVICES

Education is the most important and reliable pathway to promoting equality, and eradicating poverty in society.

Political participation and decision making

The national Youth Council which is an important vehicle for youth political participation is underfunded and this impacts its functionality.

Information and Communication Technology, Science and Innovation

Limited government support for the science and technology-based innovations and initiatives that have the potential of transforming lives.

Sports and Creative Arts

Sports and creative arts provide an opportunity to develop and nurture talent that will create immense opportunities for young people and the economy.
