Parliament has passed a motion calling on Government to establish the National Youth Service and Internship Program.

The motion was tabled before Parliament by the National Female Youth MP, Hon. Monicah Amoding. In her justification, Hon. Amoding said that the development of youth service is already called for in the existing legislation.

The MP noted that one of the objectives of the National Employment Policy for Uganda (2011) is to promote in-employment skills development, training and apprenticeships and/or internships, especially for youth.
